Materramenta Experience
history, wine and food
At Materramenta Winery, every experience is a celebration of origins, senses, and time. Our wine tastings invite you to discover the soul of the Azores through aromas and flavors shaped by the sea and volcanic rock. Each glass tells an ancient story — of the black stone that gives life to resilient vines, of the salt carried by the ocean wind, and of the knowledge passed down through generations.
More than a tasting, we offer an experience to be lived. We host wine lunches and dinners, where local gastronomy harmonizes perfectly with our wines, and culinary workshops, where we share techniques, traditions, and the simple pleasure of cooking with island ingredients.
Every moment is designed to create connection — with the place, the people, and the past that inspires us. Between lava and the Atlantic, a unique experience is born: authentic, sensory, and profoundly Azorean.

Cooking Workshops
Azorean cuisine is a perfect reflection of the islands that inspire it — rich, genuine, and shaped by the strength of nature. On Terceira Island, the sea and the highlands meet at the table: from fresh fish and seafood to pasture-raised meats and bold cheeses, every flavor tells a story of connection to the land, of ingenuity, and of resilience. Here, cooking is born from necessity and becomes art — simple in its ingredients, yet deep in the memories it awakens.
It is this heritage we seek to share in our traditional cooking workshops. We invite each visitor to roll up their sleeves, learn time-honored recipes, feel the calm rhythm of preparation, and enjoy the pleasure of cooking with local ingredients.
Amid pots, aromas, and stories, we celebrate what is truly Azorean: hospitality, sharing, and respect for the gifts of nature. In the end, more than a meal, you take with you a piece of the island — the authentic flavor of the Azores.
