The Materamenta project is based on family foundations, combining a love for wine, the land and the people of the Biscoitos region, Terceira Island, Azores. With the firm conviction that it is our obligation to play an active role in the promotion of Biscoitos, we have chosen to develop a strategy that puts the quality of the wines first, leaving economic aspects to the background.

 

We want to honor Materramenta, the first owner of the Biscoitos land and predecessor of Pedro Anes do Canto, seeking that human intervention enhances the natural flavors of this terroir whose landscape was designed by skilled hands aware that each stone has its specific place, nothing can be placed at random.

 

The secret of its success lies in a perfect harmony between the experience accumulated since the 16th century and the most recent and demanding oenological knowledge. The black stones, formed from the magma, heat the vines and protect them from the lash of salt-laden winds, from this sea that defines us, giving unique characteristics to this nectar. It is our intention that the tasting of this wine instantly takes us to the corraletas of the Biscoitos vineyards and to the hard work, completely manual, that is done there throughout the year.
